Have a Great Summer!
We had a wonderful year in 2K! We learned a lot and had some fun while doing it :) I hope everyone has a fabulous summer break and I look forward to seeing the kids in the fall!
We did a group hug at the end of the day on the last day. My arms weren't long enough to capture everyone, but I love this view of 2K. |
Naturally, we had to do a silly picture, too! |

Fun Friday!
This past Friday was a very fun day! We had our PBIS celebration for the end of the year. The whole school pooled Soar Tickets to work toward this celebration. We started out with some hip-hop dancing in the gym.
Then, we went to the library where each student got to chose a book to keep that was about art, music, artists, or musicians. After that, we went outside to paint objects for the first OB Sound Garden!
A big thanks to all the teachers and parents who helped out! We had a blast and learned a lot!

The Eggs Are Here!
It has been an exciting week in 2K with the arrival of the much anticipated chicken eggs! We have 31 eggs in our incubator right now. They are all different colors! We had no idea chicken eggs could be blue and green! The chicks will hatch in about 13 days and throughout the incubation period we will be candling the eggs to see the development of the fetus. Yesterday when we candled, we were able to see veins and the eyes of the embryos. Each day, one 2K student has the important job of being the "Chick Checker." This student records the humidity and temperature in the incubator three times a day. If the levels are off, we add more water to the base of the incubator. As we are waiting for the chicks to hatch, we will be studying the life cycles of butterflies and frogs, as well.
Here is what some of the eggs in our class incubator look like. |
